Jim Segal Dotfiles

My setup for a new machine.

Mac Install

Clone the repo
cd into the repo directory
run the script:

./fresh-setup.sh

Ubuntu Install

Clone the repo
cd into the repo directory
there are a lot of manual steps for now but also some packages that are needed explained in ./ubuntu/install-steps.md

- asdf latest nodejs
- asdf latest ruby
- asdf latest python

do something like :

update ASDF_VERSIONS to not include version, maybe combine with plugin array

for asdf_version in "${ASDF_VERSIONS[@]}"; do
  asdf install $asdf_version "${asdf latest $asdf_version}"
  asdf global $asdf_version "${asdf latest $asdf_version}"
done

Maybe make this a script, but maybe not because most of those repos are getting depricated.

modularize fresh setup

create separate scripts for things

add readline for paths to create

work dir?
personal dir?

make zsh theme actual custom

current zsh theme is a slim down version of amuse. I should just make it fully custom

on fresh setup brew export

need to add echo 'eval "$(/opt/homebrew/bin/brew shellenv)"' >> /Users/jimsegal/.zprofile after https://github.com/jsegal205/dotfiles/blob/main/fresh-setup.sh#L52

make it generic to computer name

update brew cask command in fresh-setup
