Deployment erases source files. about middleman-deploy HOT 5 CLOSED

I suspect this is related to this problem #17. I think you still do not have the correct setup. You need to have the website source (e.g. the bits that include config.rb) on some branch other than master. Then in config.rb you need to deploy to the master branch, not gh-pages.

Thanks @tvaughan for getting back, the delayed response has been due to failure to access internet the past few days. Is it possible fro you to outline the correct procedure that I can follow to have the write setup, and to have it deploy the right way? I realize that I may have had my setup of the repo all wrong.

Does the name of the repo matter? How do i setup the git branching and all that such that it is a breeze to deploy the build files to raybesiga.github.com without losing the source files or repo? Thanks

The name of the repo doesn't matter but the type of repo does. For a repo like raybesiga.github.com you need to start with a clean repo, create a branch other than master, use middleman on that branch, and use master as the deploy branch in config.rb.

For example, in config.rb:

activate :deploy do |deploy|
  deploy.method = :git
  deploy.remote = "origin"
  deploy.branch = "master"
end

And, I repeat, the middleman sources (e.g. config.rb) are on a branch other than master.
