Should I uninstall and start from square one?

First of all, thank you for addressing the Neat Legacy sometime back. I successfully used your code when Neat was forcing everyone to use their Cloud based service.

I have now run into the same issue as before after upgrading to Windows 10 Version 21H2. Unfortunately I had issues this summer with the upgrade and had to completely reinstall windows wiping out all my apps and only being able to save my user data. I've attempted to use the same process as before but with no success. I encounter that same forced logon to activate the software. I did have an account long ago but it was never activated for the cloud.

Do you have any recommendations?

Hi. Thank you SO much for giving me hope again w my neat scanner! Appreciate your skills - I had the same thoughts as you - good $ down the drain & f NEAT.
But, windows 10 laptop fresh install still promoting connect to internet. Any ideas? Thx in advance.

Doesn't this patch remove the sync icon and the drop-down menu for the cloud function? I could have sworn it did the first time I tried it. I had to do a clean install of windows and now when I did the patch those items show up on the top right.

I went on holidays, and when I came back my neat desktop wouldn't communicate with the computer. I downloaded everything again from your site, and it seems to be working, but I get an error message that it can't open because of a backup that wasn't completed. I really don't know how to get past this. Can you help with this?

If you don't install SQL compact server 3.5 sp2 will Neat still work properly?

I really appreciate this project. I facing this issue today.
My scenario was different. I was using the desktop app for years. I got it transferred to Windows 10 from 7, but I vaguely recall what I did. Since this way back when, my HD crashed and had to reinstall. I thought I just copied the old program files, however new install copied install resulted in your presentation and these sh@#%ters even got rid of my old login where I can't activate either.

However I when running the old install it failed to install original SQL compact server version packed with the 5.7 install. I grabbed SQL compact server 3.5 sp2

Your modifications got past this where I linked up to my old cabinet. It did complain the application was not activated, but appeared to continue and bombed. I unfortunately failed to capture the dialog hopeful to get your results in the end.

There was a patch installed for the neat data base to apply sp2 to the data files that ran successfully, but the neat app still bombs.
I previously had to run in compatibility mode. I see no notes you recommending the same, which is a curiosity.

I am also a developer in Colorado.
I'll start heading down your trail of breadcrumbs but was hopeful if you might have some tips or traction on this particular issue.
Potentially the upgrade to sp2 or the branch opening an existing cabinet is at fault.

Every time I launch it, I go through the database create process again. It does say "db already exists here, override or open current?" so it's only a minor inconvenience, but im wondering why it happens. Would it work if I got the old Neat.exe? Because maybe the patch makes it show setup every single time. Idk. Thanks!

I got this working with Windows 8.1 I installed without an internet connection and then had to copy the patch files to the .../exec directory It works but when I scan only the left edge of the receipt is captured and rendered to the preview window

I have admin right and am unsure where else to look to correct this error so i can finish installing the patches. the other 2 files copied fine.

A C drive failure, followed by new drive necessitated re-installation. I dread it, having had to reload Neat a couple times in the last 5 years with fingers crossed and the help I've had here.

Neat loaded and even took my database, but within 2 seconds crashed. Please help!

I even tried the old "QSP" folder trick -- but it's still crashing. (BTW- I'm on Windows 11 - not my choice and it was working before the C drive failed)

I so hope I can get this working. Had it since early 2000's and want my data.

Suddenly Neat desktop stopped working and that scumbag company blamed windows updates. Weird, then, how your replacement files completely fix the application and stop it from exiting immediately after startup.

You deserve a lifetime supply of everything, and have saved me who knows how much pain during my next tax audit.
