Options

Property name Type Default Description
attachOutsideOnClick boolean false By default, the outside click event handler is automatically attached. Explicitely setting this to true sets the handler after the element is clicked. The outside click event handler will then be removed after a click outside has occurred. (Import: NgClickOutsideAttachOutsideDirective)
clickOutsideEnabled boolean true Enables directive.
clickOutsideEvents string 'click' A comma-separated list of events to cause the trigger. For example, for additional mobile support: [clickOutsideEvents]="'click,touchstart'".
delayClickOutsideInit boolean false Delays the initialization of the click outside handler. This may help for items that are conditionally shown (see issue #13). (Import NgClickOutsideDelayOutsideDirective)
clickOutsideEmitOnBlur - - If enabled, emits an blurWindow event when user clicks outside of applications' window while it's visible. Especially useful if page contains iframes. (Import NgClickOutsideEmitOnBlurDirective)
clickOutsideExclude string A comma-separated string of DOM element queries to exclude when clicking outside of the element. (Import NgClickOutsideExcludeDirective) For example: [clickOutsideExclude]="'button,.btn-primary'".

Example Usage

Add NgClickOutsideDirective to your imports:

import {NgClickOutsideDirective} from 'ng-click-outside2';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [AppComponent],
  imports: [BrowserModule, NgClickOutsideDirective],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]
})
class AppModule {}

You can then use the directive in your templates:

@Component({
  selector: 'app',
  template: `
    <div (clickOutside)="onClickedOutside($event)">Click outside this</div>
  `
})
export class AppComponent {
  onClickedOutside(e: Event) {
    console.log('Clicked outside:', e);
  }
}

Usage with Excluding classes

import {NgClickOutsideDirective} from 'ng-click-outside2';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [AppComponent],
  imports: [BrowserModule, NgClickOutsideDirective, NgClickOutsideExcludeDirective],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]
})
class AppModule {}

You can then use the directive in your templates:

@Component({
  selector: 'app',
  template: `
    <div (clickOutside)="onClickedOutside($event)" [clickOutsideExclude]="'.foo'">Click outside this</div>
  `
})
export class AppComponent {
  onClickedOutside(e: Event) {
    console.log('Clicked outside:', e);
  }
}

Migration from ng-click-outside

// change imports
import { ClickOutsideModule } from 'ng-click-outside';
// to
import {NgClickOutsideDirective} from 'ng-click-outside2';

// and in Module import
ClickOutsideModule
// to
NgClickOutsideDirective

ng-click-outside's Issues

Click outside and ngIf

Hi,
I have a problem with an element inside an *ngIf: click outside is triggered when element has already been removed from DOM.
I already read the thread on the original repo, but delayClickOutsideInit property didn't work for me.
I was thinking about adding an extra check in shouldExclude function (something like document.contains(target)), so that if target has been removed from DOM then element is excluded.
Do you think is feasible to add this?

Thanks!

getting started page typo

You say import Add ClickOutsideModule to your list of module imports: but the code sample beneath adds NgClickOutsideDirective.

Can anyone confirm this package works for angular 15?

Using clickOutside in scope of storybook

Hello! I have my storybook setup and trying to use (clickOutside) in component's story. After building, storybook warns me with this thing:
WARN export 'afterNextRender' (imported as 'afterNextRender') was not found in '@angular/core' (possible exports: ANIMATION_MODULE_TYPE, APP_BOOTSTRAP_LISTENER, APP_ID, APP_INITIALIZER etc etc

and in storybook:

My package versions are:
"@angular/core": "16.1.1",
"ng-click-outside2": "^14.0.1",
"@nrwl/storybook": "16.3.2",
"@storybook/angular": "~7.5.3",

clickOutsideExclude property not working

Hey, I just upgraded to Angular 17 and to ng-click-outside v13.0.0
I used the exclude option in the previos 11.0.0 version.
I used the new directive and used the clickOutsideExclude property but no mather what I tried I always get an error:
Can't bind to 'clickOutsideExclude' since it isn't a known property of 'div'.

I created a stackblits with reproduction

delayClickOutsideInit not working as expected after update to v15

After update from 14.0.1 to 15.0.0, delayClickOutsideInit stopped working.

Minor description:

  1. There is a for-loop printing an array in template.
  2. Each array item has css class="style", clickOutside directive and also exclude="style" and delay=true directives.
  3. Clicking "Add" button adds a new item into the array.
  4. Clicking outside removes items from template.

In v14 it works fine, once you click "Add" button, a new item is added and no clickOutside is triggered.

In v15 clickOutside is triggered immediately (ignoring delay) so no item is printed (is removed immediately after been added).
