How did you set your material up? Upload one if you can. I believe you need to tick Use Bent Normals

Yeah issues are welcome. Did you try to put it as a bent normal, perhaps looks better that way ingame. Or is it better this way? Always best to test the materials in a test map.
Edit: Just updated the sandbox_materials version (release: v0.3-sbox.1) which converts the material as you described. I'm still unsure if this is the best way to achieve a 1-to-1 look though.
