In MonetDB, NULL values for double are coded as the IEEE minus infinity.
In R, NA values for reals are coded as an IEEE NaN with the magic code 1954.

We need to keep the database compatibility and the double genericity. Then, the only solution is a scan and change in the resultset. There is maybe a flag in the BAT structure to indicate if there are NULL values.

Some namespace collisions between R (base or from contributed packages) libraries and MonetDB libraries may happen. The resulting behaviour is undefined.
In order to prevent this effect, the python script inst/check-symbols.py can check for name collision after the package installation (works only on linux via the readelf and awk executables).
If a collision is found, please fill in a bugreport with the check-symbols.log and the check-symbols.hotfix files automatically generated. In order to maintain a deterministic behaviour of this package, one may reinstall the package with the option: --configure-args=--with-hotfix={PATH TO check-symbols.hotfix} (Not yet implemented).
