Sketch Texts Translate

Manage texts in Sketch in multiple locales by this plugin.

Installation

Download and double-click sketch_translate file and let Sketch automatically install the plugin.

Usage

Go to Plugins -> Texts Translation -> Save locale to save current locale.
Go to Plugins -> Texts Translation -> Change locale to create new locale or change to an existing one.

Important

You need to have a saved Sketch document before using the plugin. Locales files are saved in same folder ('Sketch document name'+'_translations').

Manually created/edited locales

You can manually create/edit locale files. These files have a very easy structure; "TextLayer objectID" as key and "text content" as value in a JSON file, where file name is the locale name.

You can create a new locale by:

Duplicate existing locale.
Edit TextLayer value.
Save in same folder with "locale name" and same format (JSON).
This locale will be available when "Change locale" action.

improvement/suggestion: Refresh all texts on Re-import form json file

It seems plugin does not support re-importing to sketch form another translation file?

Overriding symbol text is not translated

I like your plugin and want to use it for my manual. But I found an issue: When you have some symbols and override the text of that symbol, the overwritten text is not translatable.

I have attached an example sketch file to show you the problem. And also a screenshot: I have a text-field and made a symbol out of it. The symbol has the text “title” (and this is stored in your translation file).
When I add this symbol to a new page and overwrite the text e.g. with “English Title” (as highlighted on the screenshot) this text is not saved. The translated .json file still only shows “title” instead of having a separate translation key for that symbol instance.

Allow users install plugin via Runner

Adding the possibility that you can install Texts Translate via Runner as well.
