Please note that this is a work-in-progress repository supporting the development of version 2 of the Alfresco Bulk Import Tool (formerly known as the Alfresco Bulk Filesystem Import Tool). If you're looking for documentation, binaries etc. for the shipping 1.x versions of the tool, please go to the Google Code project page.
I have decided to move the project from Google Code to github in order to make contributions easier to manage (i.e. via forks & pull requests). I've been waiting for several years now for Google Code to offer these capabilities, and have finally given up waiting.
It's a bit of a shame really, as I prefer Google Code's other project management tools over github's, and strongly prefer Mercurial over git (which sucks - see this post, this post, and others). Regardless, pull requests are an absolutely killer feature, and while I could have chosen Bitbucket (which supports both Mercurial and pull requests) the reality is that github is where the developers are, and I can mud-wrestle git if it makes contributing easier.
A high performance bulk import tool for the open source Alfresco Document Management System.
This module provides a bulk import process that will load content into the repository from a variety of pluggable sources (a directory on the server's local filesystem being the default source). It will (optionally) replace existing content items if they already exist in the repository, but does not perform deletes (ie. this module is not designed to fully synchronise the repository with the source).
The module provides facilities for loading both metadata and version histories for imported content, although note that Alfresco itself doesn't support version histories for folders.
To find out the latest changes and enhancements to the GA version of the tool, check out the Change Log page in the Google Code wiki.

This extension is not supported by Alfresco Software Inc., although a fork of an early, pre-release version of the tool has been included in Alfresco Enterprise since v4.0, and is supported by Alfresco support.
