The release functionality is covered pretty well, but not the other commands.

Add ".dev" to the version which helps if you ever need to create custom wheels from git master.

Twine or setup.py would work for this.

We currently run python_setup('check', '--strict', '--metadata', '--restructuredtext') on publish.

Assuming many projects will have a tox environment that runs a package verification step, we could add a config option that would run that tox environment during status and publish steps.

The results of publish say:

Project built, uploaded, tagged, and pushed

But the commit that was made in the release step wasn't pushed to github. I had to do that manually.

• git configuration isn't setup, so git commit is failing
• can't find python 3.4, 3.5, or 3.6. This is probably because we don't have a circle.yaml file in the project.
