👋 Hi I'm @liprec, IRL Jan Pieter Posthuma (he/him) and with my company 🏢DataScenarios I am focussing on all the possibilities of 📊Microsoft Power BI and am living and operating in The Netherlands.
Issue began on 8/29.
If a field formatted as a date is on any level other that the top, the check box is not appearing when the date is selected. Additionally, if the slicer is configured to allow multiple selections, it still doesn't allow it.
In the below image you can see the hierarchy, and you can see based on the small image to the left of the slicer that 8/1 is selected. However, the check box is not appearing.

I tried to make a venn d3 diagramm, while inspiring me from the sample, that I was able to make working. Unfortunately the venn diagramm stays empty, and I wonder how am I able to see whats going wrong ?
Is there a console somewhere ?

The ability to be able to use sync slicers to allow hierarchy slicers across different report pages to stay consistent. I.e. change value on one page is kept on another page across the entire report.
Not an issue as such, but would really add value to this slicer.

If select all is bookmarked and data values are added, new select option appear unselected.
This is a bit unfriendly as we import new data every night and we use this hierachy slicer as date selector.
We kindly ask to make an improvement for this.

In the sample file the third page shows a collapsible tree.
Is there a way to make the nodes filter the data of the whole page when they're clicked?
E.g. if I click the node Mountain-100 Silver, 38 the page filters other visuals for that row(s) only?

I have been using Hierarchy Slicer from lat 3 month and all of a sudden today the slicer became black and it is not showing any values on Power BI service. However in desktop it is working fine.

I have use the Hierarchy slicer for date selections on my Power BI reports,
I have it set with the fields month, year and start of week
Since the new update I cannot select a single item. When I select the year 2020 the slicer will also select 2019 making it unusable.
I love using this slicer as it makes my reports so easy for the users. I really hope this is something that can be fixed quickly!

We have a handful of PBI Developers who love the Hierarchy Slicer. We notice a feature "Empty Leaves" with an on/off toggle. From your site it appears that this should allow jagged hierarchies and that turning this on should ignore lower hierarchy levels.
We have a corporate hierarchy with 5 levels total of Org Structure (Divisions, Departments, Grouped Cost Centers, Cost Centers, etc.) but not all strands have 5 levels.
Our hope is that this Empty Leaves feature will only show 2 or 3 levels where levels 4 and 5 are blank. Right now it is showing Levels 4 and 5 but with no text or description on those levels. Just a check box and then a blank text space.
Please advise on how the Empty Leaves feature works and if possible provide some sample data or a *.pbix file with this feature working.

The site says that this add-in, powerbi-hierarchySlicer can send data over the internet. Is this automatic, can it be disabled?
Been using the hierarchy slicer for a couple years, with very few issues. Today, it suddenly stopped working for every Power BI project that uses it for date hierarchies (e.g., Year > Quarter > Month > Week). Seems to be working for other hierarchical data.
I am able to build new hierarchy slicers (using the same date fields) from scratch and those work. However, the existing date hierarchy slicers do NOT work.
EDIT: Working for SOME other hierarchical data. But most are broken.
EDIT: Started working again at approximately 4p EST.

Today afternoon @3 PM EST , all of a sudden we have experienced the below issues
1.The Slicer selections went off Automatically
2.Date values/object values within slicers were not being seen
3. After every refresh , the default selections just went off
It had a major business impact.
Any inputs/leads would be appreciated?
We have also brought this to Microsoft's notice as one of the major customers have been impacted.

The default selection set for the filters gets unchecked without any manual intervention.
It looks possibly happening after the Scheduled Data Refresh.
We have been observing this for quite sometime now & it keeps on happening.
Could you please have a look into it in order to let us know incase we are missing some settings or its a bug.

If I switch with a slicer through our different material groups the visual is not refreshing itself in about 50% of the cases. This seems to be a new problem. I tried at different computers always generating the same issue. The visual has been performing nicely without any errors in the past (until ~2 weeks ago)

Hierarchy Slicer control says it is certified 2.0.19 but it is not. We can only use certified custom controls. Do you have a date when this will be certified?

Power Bi desktop is saying that this visual is using an old and unsupported version of the interface, and it will be deprecated soon. The slicer is no longer working in my dash.
Are we able to update the slicer so it works with the new versions? I'd hate to lose this functionality!

The visual keeps showing blank on the Power Bi Desktop (Sept-19 version). It appears fine when added but after closing out and reopening, it either shows blank initially or after navigating to a separate tab/page, blank.
I use hierarchy slicer for my power bi report. It seems like the search text font size does not change even though i enlarge the font size to 40.
Also, it is possible to add an eraser icon to clear the selection.

We are using this visual for quite some time. After the organizational custom visual store was released in April, we are changing atm that only visuals from the organizational store can be used.
Because the Hierarchy slicer is using the old Power BI API, it is not uploadable to the organizational store. The error message is: Legacy visuals are not supported.

The parameter Analysis Service name is expected in the format: asazure://westeurope.asazure.windows.net/fabrikam.

Since 02.10.2019 adding a measure to "Values" part does not affect the visual.

Does the D3 custom visual support D3.format?
Hi Jan. We are using and loving the Hierarchy slicer but noticed that our report in Production that is using the slicer now has 2 titles across the top. My guess is one is a Title and one is a Header. Did you recently update the Hierarchy Slicer visual that would make some of the features work differently in the PBI Service?
If so congrats! And please let me know what the new features/functionality are.

Multiple problems then happen :
1- The D3 chart remains blank, although I tried many changes in the JS code
2- When I go back to report to visualize the chart and I go back to editing, the JS and CSS code disappears, only pbi remaining : and when I hit 'Save' when in pbi editing, the CSS code comes back but the JS code is replaced by the pbi code !!!
I don't know if it's a JS mistake of mine or something other users experienced, but if you'd give me a hand, I would really appreciate it !

Position of the checkboxes are going down in the hierarchy slicer when the report is published to Power BI service
I created a hierarchy slicer in Power BI desktop as shown below
After publishing the report, it is displaying as below.
The position of checkbox is going down, is there any other setting that need to changed or is this some bug?
Hello. I find issue in ie 11.492.16299.0 for hierarhy slicer ver 1.2.10 in power bi desktop for report server march 2018:
I create hierarhy year-month and i can't select last element of hierarhy: may 2018.
I can't scroll down. But I see horisontal scroll bar...

Use Case:
Using this control to display Organization Staff hierarchy
ISSUE 1:
Hierarchy Slicer control does not show levels empty leaves even when the 'Empty Leaves' option is turned On.
Issue 1 example:
Level 1 - Root Node
Level 2 - Has 3 nodes (All Managers, so will have Level 3 populated)
Level 3 - Has 2 Managers and 1 Employees, so only two manager will have level 4 populated
After adding Fields 1, 2, 3 for the first 3 levels the hierarchy looks fine, as represented below:
After Adding Level 4 to the control, 'Level 3 Employee 1' gets eliminated from the control as there are no children.
Expected Result:
Based on the help/documentation looks like the 'Empty Leaves' option could be used to control if the empty leaves should be turned on or off. Turning the option On or Off has no affect on the control display.
ISSUE 2:
Selecting the node does not include the node itself, only includes the children in the selection.
Issue 2 example:
Level 1 - Root Node
Level 2 - Has 3 nodes (All Managers, so will have Level 3 populated)
Level 3 - Has 2 Managers and 1 Employees, so only two manager will have level 4 populated
If Level 2 Manager is selected, the result only shows the children of level 2. The check box for Level 2 Manager and the levels below that is marked as selected, but only the levels below are included in the result, not the Level 2 Manager.
Maybe this should be provided as a option switch, depending on the use case, the results may or may not want the selected node to be included. For example: If counting direct reports of the selected level, the selected row should not be included in the results/total count. But if doing a head count may want to include the node and the children in the results/total count.
Please let me know if there is a workaround for the issues mentioned above

There are any plans to enhance the control to address the issue.

My name is Nitin Kangtani and I work for Meijer Inc., Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. We are having some trouble with the Hierarchy slicer and needed to open a support issue. Can you or someone from your team help us?
Issue:
Every time we are selecting a Fiscal year it is selecting the previous year’s end period as well. To explain this issue more, please find below the screenshot for the same.
It is not letting us select multiple periods at a time in one fiscal year. Everytime we try to select multiple periods, it just selects 1 of them and does not allow to filter with the other periods.
We are seeking for help, as this is causing multiple issues with the reports. We tried to raise a ticket with Microsoft but they said that since it is a third party filter, they cannot help us.
