This little script is awesome and saved me a ton of time. I needed to blur an img src instead of a css background-image. Here is the code I added to give me this funcitonality:

In the defaults I added:

imgSrc : false

In the swap method I altered it to look like this:

if (this.defaults.imgSrc) {
    this.defaults.el.src = base;
} else {
    this.defaults.el.style.backgroundImage = 'url(' + base + ')';
}

Just thought I'd pass this on incase someone else found it handy.

After setting up CORS headers on the server we were having trouble getting stackblur-canvas working with images hosted on an external domain.

We were able to get it working (in browsers that support cross origin images) by adding img.crossOrigin = ''; after line 61 (which reads img.src = options.path;)
