This is implemented in the backend. I need to do a couple things to the frontend to make this work:

1. Add validation to the email signup page to say if an email is already used or not
2. Add an error message modal to indicate errors
3. Add a success message modal when signing up to indicate that the verification just needs to be done (e.g. "check your email")
4. Add a route in the UI that when clicked, sends a POST request to the API to verify the user, then displays some sort of "success" message and (optionally) logs the user in

Need to automate the cloudfront invalidation and redeploy. This includes creating the terraform definitions for the public website bucket and the cloudfront distribution itself
