droidtracker's Issues

"Here I come" mode, sharing location securely over OtRChat or similar

If I'm running late to meet a friend, want to let my fiancée know how far away
I am without a detailed message or know that a mate is likely to be in the same
area as me around lunchtime and want him to be able to find me, I would like to
be able to send minutely(?) updates over a chat protocol (such as XMPP), rather
than paying 20c a minute to do it via SMS etc. *Crucial* to me (ie I will not
use any application that doesn't offer this) is that *no* third party receive
the information about my location because of the application (I know that your
mobile network can track you already etc etc).

I know that The Guardian Project (https://guardianproject.info/) is already
working with droidtracker. It would be great to see something that sent my
location securely to one or several people via a secure chat client, such as
OtRChat.

The "Picasa password" filed in Lost/Stolen mode shows the password
characters. Bad idea, since this is my Google account...

Request: Key phrase lists of multiple strings, allow wildcards

In order for DroidTracker to be useful to a large number of users where
location receiver may not exactly remember the key phrase or may ask a
freeform question, please redo the phrase entries from single strings to
lists, supporting:

1. Multiple key phrases. This is default to lists, supporting multiple
variants of key phrases.

2. Setting "Exact Match". Set on by default, this option if turned on
requires exact content to match the key phrase. If set off, the app will scan
the content of any query, and if it finds key phrase in any position
it will be triggered.

3. Support wildcards (preferrably even full RegExp). Support key phrases
where words or letters may be set as wildcards. For example:

"where are you?" is the geo location key phrase
"where * are you?" would allow "where the hell are you?" to trigger.

SMS message to long, splits URL

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Track someone
2. There in a location that could not be reverse geo-coded
3. You get this sms:

"""
Source: gps
Date: 3/1/10 5:57 PM
Could not translate current latitude and longitude to readable address.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=41.263677477836
"""
--- END OF MESSAGE ---
--- NEXT SMS MESSAGE ---
"""
61,-96.10497057437979
"""

The you can't click on the maps URL because it broke didn't all fit in the
first message, making it useless.

What is the expected output? What do you want to see instead?

Much shorter message about could not translate, and put the maps URL first.
"http://maps... Couldn't translate location"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

DroidTracker version 14, latest from market as of 3/03/2010
