spatial-shell's Issues

Package for Debian 12

Hello,

I would very much like to try Spatial Shell. I run the latest release of Debian, "bookworm". I have no OCaml experience. When I try to use your build instructions, this is what happens:

swhitton@zephyr:~/src/spatial-shell>eval $(opam env --switch=default)
swhitton@zephyr:~/src/spatial-shell>make build-deps

<><> Installing new switch packages <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Switch invariant: ["ocaml-system"]

<><> Processing actions <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
∗ installed base-bigarray.base
∗ installed base-threads.base
∗ installed base-unix.base
∗ installed ocaml-system.4.13.1
∗ installed ocaml-config.2
∗ installed ocaml.4.13.1
Done.
# Run eval $(opam env) to update the current shell environment

You can temporarily relax the switch invariant with `--update-invariant'
  * Missing dependency:

I would be grateful for any input.

I am a Debian Developer, and so if I find I like Spatial Shell, I would be interested in getting it into the official Debian and Ubuntu repositories. But got to try it out locally first :)

Ignore floating windows

Floating windows should not be counted as part of the ribbon of windows in any workspace. From spatial perspective, a tiled window becoming floating should be akin to a destroyed window, and a floating window turning tiled should be considered as newly created.

Support i3

From my understanding, spatial should be compatible with i3, we “just” need to change the socket path.

Famous last words, though.

Smooth experience with background setting

  • Kill and spawn swaybg executable
  • Make this configurable
    • Choose the image
    • Choose the color
  • Investigate using a daemon to get smoother transition (like swww or a dedicated spatialbg)
  • Investigate i3 compatibility (related to #3)

How do I install this?

Sorry for such a basic question, I don't have any experience with ocaml. I have been looking for something like this for a while.
