A "console" should understand syntax of CLI commands like ip route add ... and ip link eth0 set ... and ip rule show and do actions like the ones done by the command, but on a virtual device. There should be multiple modes of the console, i.e. one for tools available on linuxes via CLI, i.e. ip, ifconfig, iptables and one for cisco-like syntax.

Imagine: HostA(Subnet A) ---- (IP: SubnetA)Router(IP: SubnetB) ----- HostB(Subnet B)

This one works:
If you setup your connections and put a router in between but don't setup any gateways every ping returns "Network unreachable".

This one works, but shouldnt:
If you setup your connections and put a router in between and only setup one gateway information on hostA, hostA with configured gateway is able to ping and hostB somehow returns the answer.
HostB is not able to ping HostA because hostB has not a gatway and is not on the same subnet,

Knstead of skeuomorphic icons in PNG simple SVG symbols should be used.

I.e. a router should be a circle with arrows and a switch should be a box with arrows.
