aastats's Introduction

aa-stats

This is a more elaborate and quite functional sample app for Android Auto SDK, featuring reading telemetry data from the car, using the Vendor Extensions channel.

It can:

  • display power, torque, boost, gear, oil temp., gearbox temp., battery voltage in this layout:

(of course it's not hard to change!)

  • log all the available telemetry to storage in JSON format,

  • upload logs to Google BigQuery,

  • notify when oil reaches operating temperature,

  • beep when maneuvering and the steering wheel crosses zero angle.

Requirements

  1. You need to build it yourself. ;)

  2. And also install the appropriate aa-vex-* .apk for your car brand (which means initially only VAG cars are supported).

aastats's Issues

How to build

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to build the APK for my Ford Sync 3.

First, I understand I need a "vex" project: is the base enough for me?

Second, can you explain better this part?
You also need to rename the application package name (in app/build.gradle) and obtain google-services.json, and put it in app/.

Thank you!

I have a lot of questions

I am trying to write some simple Android Auto apps and not quite getting things to work. I am a somewhat experienced Android developer but the AA stuff is really confusing for me. Sometimes I get the app to appear on the AA screen, other times it disappears. Sometimes when it does appear and I click on it I don't get into the associated CarAppService

I see very little documentation on the web about the class CarActivity but that seems like it might be what I want to use.

Furthermore when I do get this all working I want to try this on a real car head unit but it seems there are extra hoops involved in getting this to work.

Please contact me directly if you can discuss my issues with me

Is Mazda supported?

Is Mazda supported? If not could you make a stats app for a Mazda3 I know theres OBD2AA but at the momment google disabled 3 party apps, so that doesn't work :(.
Thanks for you're time!
