partial-enum's Introduction

Experimental proc-macro generating partially inhabited enums from a template enum and valid morphisms between those enums. The goal is to define an enum with all possible variants once and generate the partial enums to constrain different APIs to different variant subsets, without having to redefine new enums for each API. Generated morphisms can then be used to convert between those different enums and easily compose APIs.

partial-enum's Issues

Compile error with stable compiler: "#![feature] may not be used on the stable release channel"

Nice crate - I'm keen to try it in a few contexts.

However, the docs say:

By default, the empty placeholder is the unit type (). The generated code is compatible with the stable compiler.

Unfortunately, even with the "never" feature disabled, the use of #![feature(...)] is not available with a stable release channel of rustc (e.g. 1.77.2):

error[E0554]: `#![feature]` may not be used on the stable release channel
 --> .../.cargo/registry/src/index.crates.io-6f17d22bba15001f/partial-enum-0.0.4/src/lib.rs:1:1

1 | #![feature(never_type)]
  | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Is there an easy way to get this working with a stable rustc?
