medicine-for-ukraine's Introduction

$ whois david?

I'm a Data Scientist at Booking.com, working in Amsterdam πŸ‡³πŸ‡± . I hold a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 .

  • I like to write code, particularly in Python and JavaScript. But I can write in many other languages confidently, too. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»
  • I co-authored Tango with Django, so you may be able to tell I have a particular interest in web technologies. πŸ“–
  • I like to build and engineer software from the ground up, and think about how different components fit together. I helped engineer a prototype system at Microsoft, and it got patented! So I must be good at that. πŸ—οΈ
  • I'm the main developer on the LogUI project, a prototype system developed at TUDelft that focuses on the logging of user interactions in a web-based environment. It won an award at ECIR 2021! πŸŽ‰
  • I really like drawing pictures in Adobe Illustrator, and visualising complex things with Illustrator, too. 🎨
  • I like to do science, specifically when looking at how people behave and interact with search engines, and extracting insights from lots and lots of numbers. πŸ§ͺ
  • I also like teaching and doing talks about things, whether it be about my research, or about more squishy things in life, like my experiences of doing x, y or z. It's good to share! πŸ‘¨β€πŸ«

You can see πŸ‘€ more about me (and reach out to me! ☎️ ) on my website at dmax.scot. Cheers!

medicine-for-ukraine's Issues

OAuth for Identification?

If we have lots of folk trolling us, can we add a social media style login to crack down on the trolls? πŸŽ…

Fix UI bugs

Look at the attached image

  • Step 2/5: Background price width
  • Step 3/5: Real price value and tooltip
  • Thanks page Remove "Back" button

Add E-Mail Address Support

Svitlana has asked if we can bring back e-mail addresses! Which is a totally optional thing. This will require adding another step to the flow.

Check issue in the flow

what if the user picks an item, adds some things to one of the carts (clicks plus), then goes back and selects another item straight away? does that mess things up? or is it all okay?

Update App Flow

For the React app, could we add an additional step at the very beginning which provides some details on what to expect, and to thank people for their interest in helping?

I.e., when the user goes to /request/, instead of going straight to asking for an e-mail, an additional "step" is there to greet them, and when they click Next, it then moves to the e-mail question (1/7).

addressee: Olena label

make very explicit!! in the instruction to enter the correct name for the delivery box label (Olena Fidria etc). Otherwise it goes elsewhere and we wont be able to find it

Change Page Title name based on locale

page title (i.e. <title>) does not change with change in language. when the language is changed, can we change the title string? document.title = β€˜String here’

Back button support

We should include back button functionality so we don't break this in the browser. If they click back on Step 3 for example, it should take them to step 2.

I guess this will involve giving each step its own URL, like

request/volunteers (for step 1).
