There are a few useful POSIX I/O functions that can complement the functionality of the MFAT library.

Deleting files:

• unlink

Creating/deleting directories:

• mkdir
• rmdir

Directory traversal:

• opendir
• readdir
• closedir

Also consider fd-based vs path-based functions (fdopendir, openat, ...).

When descending into a deep path (e.g. /foo/bar/some/dir), each (sub)directory is currently read via the block cache, leading to block cache thrashing. This becomes especially painful if you mfat_stat() every file in a directory, for instance, when you repeatedly invalidate the block cache in order to traverse the same path over and over again to reach the individual files in the dir.

One solution would be to cache the latest dir path lookup, e.g. by storing the path string (or its hash/CRC) together with the relevant file system information (cluster/block location).
