cncl's Issues

Error setting workposition

Hello,

I've uploaded GRBL-L to my Arduino Uno (no things yet connected, nor steppers, nor limit switches, etc). When connecting the Arduino in CNCL I get always the same bug:

Error Setting Workposition
Com Error Setting Workposition
Check Your Positions
Controller will be disconnected

In GRBL info I saw this possible cause:
Last Error Command: G92X0 , 0000
Respons: error:1\r\n

Is it possible that the error is caused by the use of a comma instead of a period?

I've tried mulitple times, this error keeps occuring on all of my arduino's (also MEGA). I'm using Windows 11. Connection with UGS seems to be no problem.

Engraving chars on an Arduino Uno will flood the buffers

Release 2.3.71
Engraving chars on an Arduino Uno will flood the buffers. This will result in Grbl error messages and the chars are not engraved properly. This only happens on the Uno, due to the low buffer size on this board.

As a workaround you can set the (High/Low) speed to Low, that will fix the problem for now.
It will be solved in the next release.

Crashes

CNCL connects to my Arduino and then crashes and automatically closes.

When I open the app, select my COM port and click "Connect", it flashes "Initializing"-"Checking Build"-"Reading Config" and then closes. Not sure why

Grbl_L and probe

I was hoping to use CNCL with Grbl-L on my CNC Lathe conversion. Wanted to get grbl-L working before testing out CNCL prior to purchase. BUT I cannot get probe to work?? It works fine with standard grbl 1.1. But with grbl-L it does not. I note that the probe pin shares A5 with the spindle sync.. Is there some issue because of this?? I have not yet added in sensors for this sync but I cannot see why that should prevent Probing?? I realise this is the CNCL log so apologies if this is wrong place.

Reference not working anymore

Hi,

since I have updated to 2.3.87 the reference buttons in Setup Menu won't work anymore. I am using your latest version of GRBL-L Mega which is regularly connected via USB. Before the update everything was working and even now a test with UGS is homing just fine.

There are no error messages, after pressing either "Ref X", "Ref Z" oder "Ref XZ" the buttons become inoperational for a short period, but no movement of any axis is trigered. It is quite less fun working without referencing on the lathe.

ThreadingSS questions

Hi Huub, really enjoying CNCL and now working on getting Spindle Sync working and have a couple of questions that the answers may help others:
Using an Arduino UnoMega 2560 with the lates edge release, and 2 hallsensors identical to yours.

  1. I have both index and pulse magnets, both hall sensors light up when magnet (4mm neodymium’s) move past them - I opted for 8 magnets for sync and 1 for index (believing only 1 is required). What should the settings be for $40 and $41? I have tried: 3 for $40 and 10 for $41, and I cannot get sync to work consistently, when it did work every 5th or so pass went out of sync and feed rate shot up destroying what was a nice thread on my test piece.
  2. Is 8 magnets too much for the Mega by producing too many pulses? Lowest RPM I can do in low gear on my lathe is around 50-60 RPM.

Once again: thanks for producing this!
