I get your point. However, I actually wanted to follow an approach which makes it easy for people to get started with using the library. Some time series contain a lot of gaps and I thought it was more convenient for users to have the model data as a "polyfill" by default. But I also see that people probably expect real-data, only. Maybe we can do a poll, if enough people participate 😆

I think there should be a limit on the number of points that you can interpolate.
Today I got data from a station that was not reporting any since 5 days and it was quite confusing to interpret at the beginning :D

Do you refer to interpolate()? But regarding model data: yes, it's actually collecting model data for a station's location if the station reported data within the previous three years. That is, because I want time series to be as complete as possible, but still provide an opt-out using model=False.
