philly-homicides's Introduction

Visualizing Homicides in Philadelphia

This is a demo application that uses CartoDB, Torque and crime incident data from the City of Phladelphia.

It was built at a Code for Philly civic application workshop by Mark Headd.

The visualization displays crime incidents categorized as homicides from January 1, 2006 through December 18, 2012 (almost seven full years totalling 3,084 homicides).

Change in default.css from google

Hi Mark,

I found out in my own fork of your project (andrewbt/philly-trees) that Google recently changed the default.css file that we both link to:

http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/default.css

As you can see, it's no longer "map_canvas" but "map-canvas". You should change your div id near the bottom of your index.html so that the map tiles and stuff actually shows up.

I'd send you a pull request, but my fork already has a number of other changes you don't want in this repo.
