mr_retailexperienceworkshop's Introduction

Mixed Reality Retail Showroom MRTK3 Workshop

In this workshop, you will learn how to create a multi-platform virtual showroom using the Mixed Reality Toolkit. The latest generation of the toolkit, MRTK3, is an open source, Microsoft-driven project that provides a set of components and features used to accelerate cross-platform mixed reality app development in Unity.

This workshop highlights some of the core features of MRTK3, where you will utilize various components to create a functional showroom for the HoloLens 2 and Meta Quest.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn how to import and configure MRTK3 for mixed reality development within Unity. For a basic tutorial for getting started with Unity, please see the roll-a-ball tutorial.
  • Understand the core features of MRTK3.
  • Learn how to create a functional mixed reality application using MRTK3.

mr_retailexperienceworkshop's Issues

Bad performance on HoloLens

I have followed the tutorial and build the MR_RetailExperienceWorkshop Asset.scene on HL. The first set-up ended with FPS
less than 30Fps

So, I followed the following steps to get better performance

  1. Disabled post-processing
    Fps improved a bit
  2. Disabled all real-time lights
Huge improvements. (no idea why used many lights)
Still, if you look at 'Rack with bottles' or 'Books rack' corners, the fps drops less than 40

My first impression is all the models are high-poly and look like not made for mobile hardware.

Could you please look into this? or are there any optimized versions available?

Thanks
Sabin M. George
