When using PCD8544 the "probing..." message is never displayed. It jumps straight to scan result or the "no component" message.

When I try to enter the menu, nothing changes on the display and it gets seemingly stuck like that. The menu can actually be navigated (output seen in debug prints) so it simply doesn't render.

I dug around and found that calling lcd.update() after each lcd.lcd_fixed_string() resolves most of the issues (e.g. can select PWM frequency but not the duty cycle). Calling lcd.update() at the end of lcd.lcd_data() fixes probably all of the issues but makes text rendering noticeably slower.

Right now the arguments are there but the values aren't used in favor of using constants specified above the constructor. That is confusing.

When making this work I had to assume it's the U8glib by oliver 1.19.1.

Wiring this up is impossible without PORTD and PORTB knowledge.
Also the schematic should be in an easy to open file format (SVG probably).

I salvaged my PCD8544 display from the Nokia 3310 and had to adjust the contrast for it to be readable (it was too dark). I had to do this in one other project which used the display through a different library.

I think this is not an issue when using the 3310/5510 LCD module so a check of compatibility should be done.
