Cannot install in Homebrew on Intel processor in ARM default prefix

I followed your installation steps on a brand new Macbook Air M1 and got this error (after installation, moving and adding to path).

Error: Cannot install in Homebrew on Intel processor in ARM default prefix (/opt/homebrew)!

When running brew install -s pkg-config

You listed that package as one of the packages you managed to install. Do you have any idea what could be missing from the instructions?

Python3.9 Install

Hey I tried installing Python3.9 from an ARM Homebrew install at /opt/homebrew and while the install 'finished', the postinstall did not, crashing in these two places:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named '_posixsubprocess'
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'setuptools'

I'm just curious, did you do anything fancy when installing your Python3.9 to get it working?

Docker workaround

Hello, I know this is a little bit too soon to have Docker supported on M1 chip. But could you keep an eyes on it?

Could you help me with these?

  1. Are you able to install python 3.8 successfully?
  2. Could you try installing Django 3.1 and check whether it can successfully start a server? It would be great if you could clone some OSS django project and check whether it runs without any issue.
  3. Could you check whether Android studio installs and works properly?
  4. Whether you can connect android device via MTP

I want to confirm whether Django and Android Studio work properly because I don't think any tech youtuber would test these in their full reviews.

Terraform

Hey Mike This is great, I wonder if you have a workaround for terraform. Right now the best solution is the terraform binary, and that works fine. But if you have an alternative option would like to know.

Openconnect for M1

Can you please try compile openconnect from brew? I’m expecting MB Air M1 and I need openconnect for my work. I searched, but I din’t find anything about support.
Thanks.

ctrl+space is noop in emacs

emacs installs fine with some work, but ctrl+space (mark text) appears to do nothing. I have the same issue with emacs running in an SSH session.
