In the if statement commands, fulfilling the criteria causes the following code to be skipped, which is the opposite of how the Java code works.

Also, in the current implementation, failing an if statement causes all of the remaining code to be skipped, which I don't think was your intention. I recommend removing the skipping variable and instead looping through the gene array until a 0 is encountered, e.g.:

if(workingValue==gene[++i])
{
    while (gene[i + 1] != 0)
    {
        i += 1;
    }
}

This happened when I upgraded to the new robocode from the repo version. It seems to be there for most purposes, but not for the robot data directories

Without this, genomes often tend to get very long which impacts breeding times. Ultimately it will also lead to more elegant, efficient behaviours

It would be nice to make this more expressive; maybe change the structure to something else? Maybe serialise that for breeding?

Keeping thousands of generations of family tree seems a bit pointless; it isn't causing many issues atm but using GBs of ram for the hell of it's not a great idea

The ahead(1) hack is ugly, it really needs sorting out.
