chronotrigger-msu1's Issues

libpng16-16.dll issue

I'm having a devil of a time trying to use the 1.0 version. Sox.exe always fails with this message:

"The procedure entry point inflateReset2 could not be located in the dynamic link library *location\libpng16-16.dll"

I'm using Windows 10 x64, and I'm not sure why this always fails.

SFX echo in battle

When using the resume version of the patch and supplying track 69 to play the MSU-1 audio during battle, the menu SFX, like changing selection, or selecting an action, as well as some other SFX like the sword, echo for a really long time. In higan v101, it just makes the sound effects sound "screechy" but on the SD2SNES, the SFX just keep ringing for a second or two. The issue does not occur with SPC fallback, so deleting track 69 makes it go away. It only occurs when the MSU-1 is playing in battle. I have not tested the non-resume version of the patch.

Audio needs editing. Maybe use Sox?

There's some fairly obvious parts where the audio needs to be edited, mostly trimmed.

For an example, the premonition comes in so gradually that it's nowhere near done by the time the emulator is done playing it, leaving most of that sequence silent.

Also, you haven't defined any loop points in your PCMs.

As far as trimming samples, this can be done in a batch file with sox (http://sox.sourceforge.net/), and then, having trimmed the samples to fit, loop points can be set with wav2msu itself.

Battle music?

I'm reading the code and I'm not understanding why exactly you're specifically excluding the battle music from playing using the MSU. Is there some issue with it that's not immediately obvious?

ips file missing?

Am I supposed to have this already or does it get created, and where

Black screen on Higan when using given instructions.

Dunno why nobody has reported this yet, but the hack, with the instructions you've given, is unusable on Higan v097 or later. I found this out while working on my own hack, as well. Guaranteed, you're going to freeze at a black screen (as I'm getting now): manifest.bml files are completely unsupported now, and ones written using the old technique we were using just cause Higan to lock up. Instead of advising people to rename their program.rom and copy the tracks over as chrono_msu1-tracknum.pcm, and the .msu file as chrono_msu1.msu, and copy the manifest.bml, what you should be doing nowadays is giving people an option in make_music_pack.bat as to whether or not they're using higan, and if they are, you should output the PCM files as track-numbers.pcm, and rename chrono_msu1.msu to msu1.rom. Then you simply import the ROM and copy everything over, no manifest needed.

Try too

Hi,
I will try to work on PAL french games, because, nobody tries to add MSU-1 feature, and i have just one issue before my first release. I can not find with debugger the assembly function to swap with the new function... I not find 2140-2143 reference when music was playing.... Help me please, french ies needs to play snes games with cd audio. :)

Will not write a save.

When using this on the SD2SNES flash cart. When ever you save your game it appears fine but when you shut it off or reset the save is gone. I don't think it actually writes the save at all. The same problem happens with the Legend Of Zelda A Link To The Past MSU1 hack if you don't expand the rom. I tried doing that with chrono trigger and it didn't fix it either.

wav2msu binary?

The readme links to a GitHub repo for wav2msu but it has no binary in it. I googled wav2msu and found one, but its command line syntax is different and therefore the batch files for this hack don't work with it.
