mojombo.github.io's Introduction

This is the data for my blog

It is automatically transformed by Jekyll into a static site whenever I push this repository to GitHub.

I was tired of having my blog posts end up in a database off on some remote server. That is backwards. I've lost valuable posts that way. I want to author my posts locally in Textile or Markdown. My blog should be easily stylable and customizable any way I please. It should take care of creating a feed for me. And most of all, my site should be stored on GitHub so that I never lose data again.

mojombo.github.io's Issues

'Invalid theme folder' when trying to run Jekyll locally with mojombo-jekyll theme.

I've been running into a problem with the mojombo-jekyll theme when trying to run a fresh new Jekyll site locally. After running
jekyll new
and changing the theme in the Gemfile and _config.yml I run
bundle install
with no problems at all. However,
bundle exec jekyll serve
fails to serve the site and I get

Invalid theme folder: _sass
Invalid theme folder: _includes
jekyll 3.8.2 | Error: method `/' not defined in Integer

I don't have any problems with the default theme, and these error messages aren't helping me out much, as those folders don't exist in the first place.
I'll keep working on this, but if anyone has any hunches I'd love to hear them.

broken link - 24waystostart

hey tom! I wanted to read the Designer, Architect, Developer Article that's listed in this file: https://github.com/mojombo/mojombo.github.io/blob/4f45da20dc198632777d407e302f3d754f8f6ded/_posts/2010-12-11-designer-architect-developer.md

but 24waystostart seems to be (permanently?) down. I could only find this via the wayback machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20130310104512/http://24waystostart.com/2010/designer-architect-developer/

Do you still have an original copy of the text?

Thanks!

Argh, nevermind, this isn't jekylls repo... ugh, need more coffee.

Renaming development branch to `main` branch.

Hi,

Since there is a change of terminology to main, in order to avoid the risk the master word becoming a native word in the development life cycle as it has in the case of linux kernel - where the terminology is difficult to modify at the moment.

Why am I asking this on this personal blog?

Change of branch name would reflect here - https://jekyllrb.com/docs/github-pages/

Thanks.

Customize the html file built by jekyll

Hey Tom, your repo looks cool. I just wonder if/how I can customize the template from jekyll if there's something I want to change. I don't seems to have access to the html files generated for my github webpage.

How to fix the over flow in code block?

When there is a long line of code, the code over flows as you can see from the image below

Screenshot from 2020-06-21 00-25-59

How to fix that so that the code block would have a horizontal scroll bar instead?

Creating RDD post its own repository

Hi Tom,

I just read (and loved!) your post called « Readme Driven Development ».

I think that creating a very own github repository and github page for this post would be a great thing!

I think that repository should ask for:

  • translation contributors to spread out your thought about readme driven development over all major languages.
  • frontend designer contributors to design a nice github page statically generated, with a page for each language, English page being the default one and home.

I think it would be also good to create a dedicated organization for that repository.

Thus this could be:

I think this repository should start with a clean readme file ;-)

I suggest myself to start this work if you agree that. I would already started it if the posts folder in your repository would be MIT like the rest folders.

Of course, credits will be yours!

What do you think about it ?

Deployment

How do you deploy this application and what language is this?

{% for post in site.posts %}

how can I use this repository

I forked this repository. And I want to know how can I use this to build my blog.
I don't know which website should I visit.
Thanks
