The project used to use the discord vanity link /cryptobatznft, but recently switched it to /cryptobatz. Unfortunately, they left their tweets with the old URL up, and scammers registered their own server on the old link. There, users were instructed to "verify" by getting redirected to a phishing site and having their wallets stolen.

Shortly before the federal election, the German government launched the app "ID Wallet". It was supposed to store driver's licenses and other identification documents, and allow them to be shared with authorized parties (like the police, or during hotel check-ins). Because the distributed ledger back-end met neither basic EU security standards, nor handled more than a few thousand users (in total, not per second), the launch failed and private data stored in the app would have been exposed to identity theft. FOIA requests revealed, that the project developers had known about the shortcomings of their design months in advance.

TimBL's vision for Web 3.0 is far from what the decenbros are pushing. I thought it'll be nice if visitors get to know what the actual vision of it is, and to avoid more confusion between the decentralized focus of "web3" and an iteration of the Web that actually improves the web more than decentralization can ever do.

Jason Rohrer, developer of indie game "The Castle Doctrine" announced his plan to auction 155 of the digital paintings that he commissioned for the game as NFTs on the OpenSea platform, without ever requesting permission from the original artists or informing them of his plan at all. In an email, Rohrer told Kotaku that he did not ask permission to sell people’s works as NFTs “mostly because having email conversations with 50+ people would exceed my bandwidth as a solo creator.”

On January 2, 2022, a DeFi protocol known as Tinyman announced that it was compromised, providing attackers the ability to withdrawal assets they did not own. According to the Tinyman team, the attacker was able to exploit a previously unknown vulnerability in the Tinyman contract, even though Tinyman's smart contract was audited by Runtime Verification back in September 2021 before launching into the public block chain. And it keeping with DeFi state-of-the-art practice, Tinyman is a permissionless immutable smart contract, and the developer team can't fix the problem, noone can. Tinyman's dev team recommendation to users is to withdraw their remaining funds from the contract's liquidity pool as the only viable remediation.

Ubisoft's announcement of an NFT platform built into Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint caught a lot of Ubisoft developers off guard. Some were worried they would be forced to include NFTs in their own games, while others raised environmental concerns that come with the NFT technology stack.

The NFT trading cards were issued in collaboration with Double Jump.Tokyo using the messaging app LINE's blockchain infrastructure. Double Jump.Tokyo also partnered with SEGA on NFTs.

An anonymous NFT "artist" released a collection of poorly made NFTs featuring the late George Floyd, whose murder by a police officer in May 2020 set off protests around the world. There is no apparent link to his family or any social justice charity; this is just a scam to make money off of the memory of a murder victim.

On Jan 20, @twitter posted "gm, looking for an nft pfp", shortly after rolling out hexagonal NFT profile pictures.
The next day, @McDonaldsDENews replied "Say no more!", and included pixel art of the Twitter bird holding a McDonald's bag in its beak.
After further investigation, though, the art was found to be heavily traced from a tweet by @SarahBurssty, which ironically was created to criticize Twitter's support of NFTs.

Someone mints a NFT of 100 stolen furry profile pictures
The entry claims that the creator of the token promised $5k to anyone who owned an image used in the collage. However, the linked article specifies that the compensation was only available to people who minted tokens of the artwork and sent them to the creator—and that all but one of the people who tried this were not even "remotely close to being able to show that their pfp in question was in fact theirs."
