KAS : Knobs And Scripts

Knobs And Scripts is a utility to save, restore, and optionally version Linux settings (knobs) and scripts. Originally written to make rebuilding a system and sharing configurations easier KAS may be used at the system or user level.

KAS uses a local directory to save a list of files and/or directories along with their paths and permissions. That directory may optionally be versioned to a git or GitHub repository.

Ownership & permissions when using git or GitHub option

If the git or GitHub option is used, and the committed repo is cloned, the file ownership and permissions are not cloned or restored.

Research git-based possibilities to capture and handle.

If nothing reasonable exists add a mechanism inside KAS.

Symbolic links fail

KAS fails when a symbolic link is encountered.

Either copy the symbolic link or skip over them.

Wildcards

KAS does not expand wildcards the way anticipated.

Add wildcard handling.
