crime-open-database's Issues

Questions regarding missing years & New York City lat/long coordinates

Thank you so much for maintaining and sharing this excellent data resource! I have two questions regarding the data:

  1. When accessing the data in R using the crimedata package, there is no data available for the following city-years: Austin 2019, Charlotte 2016, Chicago 2019, and New York 2018. Would you be able to explain why these years are unavailable?

  2. The lat/long coordinates for the New York crime data appear to be highly concentrated around certain points with approximately 1 point per police precinct, rather than being more evenly spatially distributed:

Have the lat/long coordinates of the data been adjusted in any way, perhaps to preserve anonymity?
