It would be good if player states (ghost/not ghost) were persisted somewhere. It's overkill to require a database for something like this, but it would be nice if the option were at least available.

Currently, ghosting of players is accomplished partially by placing them in Adventure mode, primarily to prevent them from spawning things willy-nilly. However, there are significant downsides to this; as well as the functional implications (see #1 and #5), Adventure mode brings excessive UI (health and hunger bars). The decision to use Adventure mode was made quickly and I'd like to reevaluate the suitability of Creative mode.
