azure-devdays's Issues

Lab 4 ex 2 - Deploy to Azure button confusing

Lab 4 exercise 2 task 1.1.
The step says "Log in portal Azure clicking here", but the button next to it navigates to a custom deployment and there's no guidance on how to complete this custom deployment.
The module 4 resource group seems to already have everything you need, did this Deploy to Azure button come from an older version of this course?

Lab 3 Service Principal Configuration is confusing

Lab 3, step 3 talks about configuring an existing service principle, but it doesn't explain where we can find this existing service principle information.
Also, the screenshot isn't using an existing service principle, but the default new service principle.
Because I couldn't find the existing service principle I had to create a new one.

This worked fine and I was able to complete the exercise. Maybe it would be easier to just use the new service principle in the lab instructions?

unclear how to rdp into module 1 vm

When connecting to the SQL VM in the lab, step 6 says:
"Go to your downloads folder and double click on MySQLVM.rdp File, click on Connect, enter student as the user name and Pa55w.rd1234 as Password, and click on Accept. And then click on Yes."

This confuses many of the lab participants.

They don't know that in RDP they need to click "More choices" so they can enter a complete user name and password.

They don't know the user should be entered as "mysqlvm\student" and not just student.

The password for the VMs was NOT the same as in the pdf/markdown. That password is provided in the lab signup and email, but since the lab gives a password, no one checked the email to see it was different and that was why the connections failed.

Consider going through this step as a user who is unfamiliar with the details of RDP and who may not consider replacing the password in the docs with the one from the email/activation.
