what is the next step? how can i add my own device?

"The getting started topic" is not very helpful to me, so I'm sorry for the (basic) questions.

I ran the rails server but what is the next step? Where do I find some information? How can I feed the rails server with xml data? Maybe I am totally wrong.

Did you use ruby and rails only for the demo webserver and not for the Mtconnect device itself? I'm currently not very familiar with Mtconnect and thought, I could handle it with ruby.
