auto's Issues

Add support for Fiction's Fun rule

Allow players to enter with a secondary. The main thing would be to obviously denote that the tag is the player's secondary. Also implementing that the player's secondary loses if they meet in bracket.

Requested by Jahan.

Ignore the top.gg server

guild ID 264445053596991498

It has about 100,000 users and is using up too much memory especially for a server that's not running tournaments.

Create next command

Shows user who they'll play next. Will require walking back through the bracket.

Check for TO role

Encourage users to create a "TO" role on their Discord servers. auTO will check for that role when determining if users can control the bot.

Auto DQ

  1. Player1 and Player2's match gets called.
  2. Player1 puts a netplay code in the chat and pings Player2.
  3. Player2 doesn't respond after (what Player1 considers) a reasonable amount of time.
  4. Player1 types !auTO noshow in the chat OR TO types !auTO noshow @Player2.
  5. auTO posts "@Player2 post in the chat in 5 minutes and play your match or you will be DQed".
  6. auTO waits for a post from Player2.
    1. If Player2 posts, stop the DQ timer.
  7. Otherwise, DQ them and post the new matches.
    1. If the DQed player has another match to play, start the process again immediately.
  8. The TO can stop this process at anytime with !auTO noshow stop @Player2.

Creating private channels for players

The bot receives a couple of players from the table: @ Player1 vs @ Player2. Immediately after that, he creates a private channel in the discord, where he adds @ Player1 and @ Player2. And he writes a text in this channel, for example: "A duel has been assigned to you. @ Player1 vs @ Player2. To send the results, use! Report 0-2"

Allow auTO to receive match reports from a different channel

Hello! I am an admin for the Chicagoland Melee server and we're planning on using auTO for the foreseeable future.

I wanted to request the ability for auTO to read the commands from multiple channels for the same tournament.

Discord Tournament Channels
This is how we have our tournament channels set up for the sake of organization and legibility. It would be amazing if auTO could read the match reports in #result-reporting, but still call matches in #match-calling. As it is right now it is stuck to one channel and we'll have to consolidate.

Not a huge issue, but would be a godsend if implemented. Thank you for the creating this bot, it's a great help!

@auTO instead of !auTO

Hey I just used auTO in a netplay tourney (thanks Corona) and had some feedback. This first bit of feedback is a very minor nitpick but it should be a very easy change if you agree with it.

I think it would be better if you talked with him instead of having him listen for commands. @auTO report 3-2, etc. This has the advantage of autocompleting his name, is a little less confusing (for the lay-melee player. uh, the me-lay man? the me-lay man) and I think it's a slightly better workflow.

Very cool project! Thank you very much for making it. ❤️

allow aliases

The display name constraint was definitely the biggest source of confusion in the bracket I just ran. Despite me trying to tell people in multiple places in very bold text that they had to use the same display name, I ended up having to yell at people and fix them myself. Allowing aliases would be a great feature.

This may be a bit difficult. I think it depends on how much (if any) state discord bots are able to store. I've never made a discord bot but have a lot of experience making IRC bots back when IRC was all we had. If discord bots are long-running processes and you can store state in memory it would be pretty straightforward to create a table storing aliases for people.

Proposed workflow:

# add alias for current user
!auTO alias "ur-mom-lol"

# add alias for given user
!auTO alias @someUser "nobody"

This would associate their discord accounts with different names on challonge.
