Python 2.7, 3.6 and 3.7 have all been end-of-life for at least a year or more. I think it's time to drop supporting them, which will also mean more modern tooling can be used that only supports actively-supported Python versions.

The deploy.sh script takes only one argument for the $PLATFORM so in PR #20 that took on the name alpine resulting in a focal_alpine docker tag. It would be nice to refactor this to use a $DISTRO, with a default of focal.

Are there plans to add focal_i686 images in the near future?

@matthew-brett @mattip there is the old version of Python 3.10 in the image - Python 3.10.0a6, but the release happened. Could you build a new image and push it in the docker registry?

It seems 3.12rc1 came out. @mayeut what would it take to get the manylinux bot onto this repo? Is it enough to install it via the install button or do we need to do something to tell it how to update like in PR #43

Please could you update the pip version to the new 21.2.3, released 5 days ago?
