Working on diffscripting

I had suggested before, would it be easier to remove these things (as well as blocks that serve no purpose other than to hold an _Unchecked annotation, which I think will also get in the way of the 3c-orig diffs?) from the checked-in manual files? Of course, that could be done via the same script. The considerations I see so far:

Advantage:

  • We can edit the manual files in the same form in which they'll be diffed without having to remember that this transformation will happen later.

Disadvantage:

  • There's more noise in a comparison of our manual version to the original manual ports.

It may be too late for our current paper deadline, but we could consider this approach for future experiments if other things haven't changed to make it moot (e.g., switching to using 3c -addcr).

Fair points. We can think about this after the deadline. No time/energy to contemplate this now.
