I added badge count on push receive and remove on app open with help of ShortcutBadge library, for android.

1. Install this plugin using PhoneGap/Cordova CLI:

    cordova plugin add https://github.com/naitikpatel1990/phonegap-ua-push-badge
   

2. Modify the config.xml file to set the Android minimum sdk version to 16:

3. Modify the config.xml file to contain (replacing with your configuration settings):

4. Enable user notifications
