WinASSIST

The WinASSIST program uses a rule-oriented language to automatically generate input files for the SURE/WinSURE program. The user describes the failure behavior and recovery behavior of a fault-tolerant computer system in an abstract language. The WinASSIST program then automatically generates a corresponding semi-Markov model. The abstract language allows efficient description of large, complex systems. A one-page WinASSIST-language description may result in a semi-Markov model with thousands of states and transitions. The WinASSIST program also provides model-reduction techniques to facilitate efficient modeling of large systems.

Doubts about this repository

Good morning, @skytland and @rwbutler4!

Is this repository related to software reliability and maintainability, one of huge topics in the aerospace industry and NASA?

And is it also related to https://llis.nasa.gov/lesson/838?

You didn't provide the instructions of how installing and testing, I think this repository applies only to Windows because of "Win".

Question on Installation File

According to the installation file, certain header have to be commented for compatibility with Windows/Linux or Mac in makeFile. However that seems to have been handled.

Further more, installation with the make file generated the following error:

(cd common;make)
process_begin: CreateProcess(NULL, (cd common;make), ...) failed.
make (e=2): The system cannot find the file specified.
Makefile:222: recipe for target 'comstuff' failed
mingw32-make.exe: *** [comstuff] Error 2
