The Numbers of Music: Using the Billboard Hot 100 to Analyze Trends in the Industry

Intro

This repository contains all of the relevant files for our COGS 108 final project at UCSD for Winter 2018. The project is contained inside of the FinalProject.ipynb file, and can be downloaded and opened using Jupyter.

Pull Requests

Pull requests are discouraged, since this repository will be left in its turn-in state. However, if you'd like to fork the repository and try some of it out on your own by downloading your own data from the charts using the provided Python scripts or by running different tests with our data that we provide, feel free!

Nice and interesting topic.
Some points -

  1. No clear description of the datasets is given. (You have been asked to describe the dataset). Also, please be more specific about how you will combine the datasets.
  2. I believe using the dataset for the timeline regarding major shifts in history should have been incorporated while describing datasets as you are trying to study if major events have some relationship with the change in taste of music.
  3. While writing background, if you are saying that Some described the most commonly mentioned words in the song, reference the paper/ link over here itself as [1] or [2].

Overall good plan to work on.
