rapua's Issues

Instances: Duplicate

Duplicating instances would be really handy. It would enable coordinators to create new experiences without a lot of overheard.

Example use cases:

  • Run multiple classes with differing content, i.e., different focuses or level of understanding, but with the same locations
  • Time-driven mechanics vs free-roam discovery vs choose the next of n locations

This change would allow educators to experiment with different approaches to experiential, problem-based, and free-choice learning.

Duplicating an instance should:

  • Create a new instance
  • Copy over all locations (linked to the same coords/codes)
  • Not copy over teams (which must be globally unique)
  • Not copy over activity/scans
  • Navigate the coordinator to the instance settings page

Live dashboard

The dashboard should update live, so that coordinators can more readily see each activity progress

Instances

This feature is currently half-baked. Coordinators should be able to

  • Create an instance
  • Switch instances
  • Delete an instance, and associated data
  • Handle no instances
  • Duplicate an instance (now moved to #7 )

The system should work out which instance a team belongs to, and allow coords (real world points) to belong to multiple instances (game points)

Allow scan-in only locations

Scan in only locations means the player does not have to scan in. This could be beneficial for locations which do not require high engagement and where minimising player time is important.

Completion criteria:

  • Coordinator can set the default method (scan in, scan in and out) per instance
  • Coordinator can override the default on a location basis
  • Scan out posters are not generated
  • Users are given instructions upon scanning about what to do next

Add new "next location" methods

Currently, players are shown three random locations on a map and asked to navigate to those locations. New methods would allow different experiences. These new methods should include

  • Map (done)
  • Clues / description
    • The system gives the player a clue or a description of the location, which they must then find
  • Free roam
    • Players are free to scan what they like, in any order. Map is optional

Completion criteria

  • Settings for admin
  • Correctly format nav instructions for players
  • Correctly fetch valid locations for players
