cloudburst-graph's Issues

Check for key error

Check for key error when using os module to look for NEO4J and give user friendly error.

Additional Hop Descriptions

Lot of hops still no descriptions, consider merging in another source, perhaps pulling data from Yakima Valley Hops. Other brewing supply sites have descriptions too.

Hop synonyms

Probably ought to support synonyms for hops that arise when new breeds finally get commercial names, such as hop 438 eventually becoming branded as Sabro.

Consider sharing db backup for easier installation

Currently users have to run the python ETL scripts to load Neo4j, but seems like we might want to check if it's easier to load from backups so users can get the graph or graph apps installed locally.

  • Figure out how to create/restore from backups
  • Does Neo4j Desktop UI support loading from backup or only command line tools
  • Update readme.md if this provides an easier path to use

Add Pagerank

If graph data library (GDS) is installed,

CALL gds.graph.create.cypher(
    'full_graph',
    'MATCH (n) RETURN id(n) AS id',
    'MATCH (n)-[e]-(m) RETURN id(n) AS source, e.weight AS weight, id(m) AS target'
)
CALL gds.pageRank.write('full_graph', {
    maxIterations: 200,
    dampingFactor: 0.85,
    writeProperty: 'full_pagerank'})

Results of above queries pass the plausibility test of the most central Hops at Cloudburst being by far Citra (see attachment)
image

  • Add these steps to ETL script
  • Add exception handling to pass if GDS is missing.

Create NeoDash Dashboard

Dashboard over the database might be easier to install/use than bloom, and possibly exposable to friends via a web server.

Investigate if NeoDash usable enough to be worthwhile including configs

  • Graph return display usable?
  • Charting features
  • User input of dashboard

Investigate sources of hop varietal information

Hops are currently just a list, but it might be nice if the database could be populated with more information about the varietals (year/place developed, if found in wild, bred from another, etc).
