On the most up-to-date Ubuntu 16.04, I get:

# apt-get install igv

E: Package 'igv' has no installation candidate

Possibly related to this?

I can't download gtk from https://software.broadinstitute.org/gatk/download/auth?package=GATK

It just shows blank page on both chrome and firefox. Do I need to register in order to get it?

It required me to execute following step additionally, might be good to add to the installation pipeline in case someone has the same problem.

sudo apt-get install python-dev

The README scripts require you to use specific root directory, which is hard coded in .bashrc. You should probably mention it in case someone wants to use another path, but is not familiar with linux well enough to figure it out.

It required me to install libboost-all-dev, so I suggest adding it to the install guide.
