  • Implementing and deploying a domain-specific language for writing efficient, stateful rules

Julian (anti-abuse, founder, ex-Google anti-fraud on wallet & anti-abuse on drive)

  • Fighting fraud and abuse with custom reputation and relation databases
  • Rate limiting billions of events with minimal false positives

Jonathan (anti-abuse, previously faught fraud/spam at Google and Yahoo)

Pierre (anti-abuse, previously faught fraud at Stripe)

  • Writing tool for quickly identifying and deep-dive investigating outlier behaviors for our users.
  • Learning the power of SQRL to write powerful and dynamic rules to block bad actions.

Alana (anti-abuse, worked on policy and enforcement at Google & YouTube)

  • Within a few hours, identified and successfully blocked almost all spammy account creation for a new client, cutting down total signups by ~16%.
  • Identified stats on rule performance and overlap, manual review results, and business metrics from data in BigQuery.

Yunjing (infra, data infrastructure at Square, Ph.D in cloud performance & security)

  • Building domain-specific databases using Kafka, RocksDB, and Kubernetes that serve streaming processing results at scale
  • Supporting customers with 100s of millions of monthly active users to fight attackers that are constantly evolving

Paul (infra, ex-Inkling, studied system design at University of Waterloo)

  • Building a machine learning pipeline with TensorFlow
  • Building a reliable and efficient webhook delivery system

Dave (infra, founded Minefold and Assembly.com)

  • Building a service mesh to better manage our microservices
  • Move our api to graphql to better support web and mobile clients

Kristen (sales, managed sales at Dropbox)

  • Working with companies to learn and advocate where we can best help them fight fraud and abuse.

Lauren (chief of staff, previously Lonely Planet)
