ossperks's Issues

Jazz Up the Page With Favicon Service

I like the simplistic design of ossPerks.com - it's the bare minimum needed to get the job done without a whole lot more, which it great.

I feel like we could add a little bit of jazz to the page though with the addition of .favicons for the company tags.

We could leverage Google's favicon service, which is as simple as adding am image like so:

<img src="https://plus.google.com/_/favicon?domain=red-gate.com"/>

Which would produce:

Redgate

Of course, all you have to do is switch out the domain, which we could do with JavaScript, and get a whole slew of icons.

I think this should also be able to be handled via CSS with background-image, data-* attributes and the content property of CSS3.

Validate Links

Hi @nikmd23, cool project

I wrote a tool that can validate links in a file. It can be run when someone submits a pull request or a commit is pushed to ossperks.

It is currently being used by many projects including

Examples

Running the tool for ossperks found these link redirects

If you are interested, connect this repo to https://travis-ci.org/ and add a .travis.yml file to the project (you can also use Circle CI or Codeship which can be configured without a file in the repo)... the script would verify links in index.html

See https://github.com/dkhamsing/awesome_bot for options, more information
Feel free to leave a comment or close if this is not right for you 😄

ossPerks Logo and Twitter Avatar

I've created the following temporary logo and Twitter avatar for ossPerks.com:

logo

Very simple, I know. It demonstrates the range of my design capabilities. 😉

It'd be great to have something a little more original and attractive. I'm pretty much open to anything as long as it is clear, easy to read and non-offensive.

Of course, since this is an open source project, we have no funds to pay for this work - but we'd be greatly thankful for your contribution.

Just reply to this issue with the graphic you'd suggest. If we get several logos, we'll vote for the best one.

Seperate Tools from Services?

I'm thinking we should separate the tools from the services on the site.

In my mind a tool is something I have to install on my box and a service is something that I don't.

A few examples include:

+---------------+------------+
| *Tool* | *Service* |
|---------------|------------|
| ANTS Profiler | GitHub |
| ReSharper | Confluence |
| Fiddler | Jira |
| GhostDoc | MyGet |
| RegEx Buddy | TeamCity |
+---------------+------------+

With this separation we could have two calls to action. Download for tools and Register for services.
