libstats's Issues

New installation problem

I have a hosted server, so don't have access to Apache files. But other than
that, I think I've followed the steps in the installation guide (added
"$pear_include_path" editing and admin info in init.php). I can't get past the
"I messed up and I'm sorry" page. I do get a "refDB error" email each time the
page is accessed. The rest of this description is the text of the email. Please
help.

Fatal error: Class 'MonthlyReport' not found in /home/librwww/www/refstats/actions/ReportReturnAction.php on line 89

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempting to view any report
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Reports

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
On unix

Please provide any additional information below.
I made some changes to add a new library to the stats page, not touching any
reports pages. Now when I view a report and turn on the php errors I get "Fatal
error: Class 'MonthlyReport' not found in
/home/librwww/www/refstats/actions/ReportReturnAction.php on line 89"

I do have the MonthlyReport in the table and am at a loss to figure out why I'm
getting the fatal error ...It must be something i changed in another file but I
can't find anything wrong in those.

Change time zone in timestamp

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add a question
2. Timestamp is server's clock.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
We are probably a special case -- our server lives in a different timezone.
 We would like to adjust the time stamps to reflect our time zone.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
libstats 1.0.6 on Apache 2.2.11/PHP 5.2.9

delete an existing library

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. deleting an existing library

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i don't see a way to delete an existing library. what i was able to do was
to blank it out, but that left a layer of empty spaces above the libraries
we do use.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
not sure what version, but we installed it in the spring of 08. mostly
used on windows xp - although we have it running on a server in our library
and are accessing it on the web.

Please provide any additional information below.

Problems with AddField code

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. following (nearly) exactly
http://code.google.com/p/libstats/wiki/AddField
2. modifying this with new field/column name:
# Modify QuestionEditForm.php similar to the above

    * LINES 55-64

          <div class = "inputBox">
              <h5>Time Spent</h5>
              <?php echo( $optionFunction(
                  'timeSpent',
                  $rInfo['timeSpentOpts'],
                  'time_spent_id',
                  'time_spent',
                  $rInfo['question']['time_spent_id'], 5)
                  ); ?>
          </div>
3. I get either errors (I'll list them in a moment, or I get the libstats
to 'sort of work' with the new field giving errors

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
in attached file

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1,0.6 - red hat linux, enterprise version, I believe

Please provide any additional information below.
attached in file
A note: In the Wiki where it indicates adding the material in the admin
table, I have to browse that table to find the (in my case)
timeframe_types  etc.

Installation Problem

I have installed libstats under [wwwroot]/libstats, but when I access index.php
and redirected to

http://localhost/libstats/questionAddForm.do

Not Found
The requested URL /libstats/questionAddForm.do was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.15 (CentOS) Server at localhost Port 80

The following is added to /libstats/.htaccess
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /libstats/
RewriteRule .+\.do$ Controller.php
DirectoryIndex index.php

And httpd.conf is updated.

Should I have have further setting?

Many thanks.

Help pop-up contents

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Click on Report page link at bottom, labeled "Import Data to Excel" or on
Add Question Page link labeled "Backdate"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the resulting pop-up window to have content, rather than the empty
window. For example, the Wisconsin version of this popup
http://www.wendt.wisc.edu/projects/libstats-demo/help.do?advice=6 has
content while the original zip download file does not. I only see that the
first three cases (help_id) are accounted for on the content/admin/help.php
file. Does this mean that we have to hard-code content in there for help_id
values 4-6? Not very helpful for non-programmers...

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.6 Windows

Please provide any additional information below.
if you have an answer as to how to address this in order to fill the
pop-ups with helpful content, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Major pitfall in getOperation function

The getOperation function is supposed to get just the filename of the requested
page. It does this by essentially matching whatever string is between the last
"/" and ".do" in the REQUEST_URI variable. However, if there is ever a "/" in
the query part of the URI, it will not return the requested page filename (and
subsequently go to error page). This normally isn't a problem unless doing CSV
export with date criteria, I've noticed, as the dates contain backslashes.

Two possible fixes:
-Pass in $_SERVER["SCRIPT_NAME"] to getOperation instead to remove the query
portion of the URI.

-Use this regex or something similar to extract the filename:
if (preg_match('%/([^//]+?.do)%', $uri, $groups)) {
    $operation = $groups[1];
}

False SQL query in ByInitials.php report

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run the current commit of the ByInitials report
2. Report return will only list "In-Person" rather than all question format
types

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

All of the question format types for each initial should display in the report

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

1.0.6

Please provide any additional information below.
The sql query need to be changed...

Line 36: GROUP BY initials, questions.time_spent_id
Should be: GROUP BY initials, questions.question_format_id

Searching Short Terms

Maybe there should be a wiki page referencing the ft_min_word_len option
for mysql. I recently tweaked our libstats setup so that our librarians
can search for "tax" and "ill". I was tempted to try to work up a wiki
page myself, but I haven't stumbled across any way to add pages or even
submit a wiki page for consideration.

Error Checking on Reports with No Results

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Do a report with a timeframe that will yield no results.
2. Get PHP warning errors

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Shouldn't show errors, but just a blank table. Errors are usually the
following (line numbers may be different):

Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in
C:\xampplite\htdocs\libstats\reports\ByInitials.php on line 43

Warning: array_keys() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in
C:\xampplite\htdocs\libstats\reports\ByInitials.php on line 43

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output
started at C:\xampplite\htdocs\libstats\reports\ByInitials.php:43) in
C:\xampplite\htdocs\libstats\ControllerFunctions.php on line 135

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.6 plus reports fix. WinXP with XAMPP 1.7.3 Lite.

Please provide any additional information below.
Suggest more error checking on the returned results. I'm using the
following code at line 45:

if (PEAR::isError($result["data"])) {
    //custom util function. use your own error logging here
    //dumpToFile($result["data"]->getMessage());
} else {
    if (count($result['data']) > 0) $result['metadata'] =
array_keys($result['data'][0]);
    return $result;
}

Also, for some reports, I've found the following bit of code necessary to
prevent further processing of empty results and thus more errors. At about
line 65:

if (!$rInfo['reportResults']["data"]) {
    print "<br />No Results!<br /><br />";
    return;
}

Problems with READ types modifications

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I followed the steps at http://code.google.com/p/libstats/wiki/AddField

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The "Questions By READ Type" report doesn't work. By uncommenting the
debugging statement around line 44 of reports/ByReadType.php (see the full
output in the attached file), I see that MySQL is reporting a syntax error
with the "SELECT COUNT..." query, but I can't find anything wrong with the
query. It certainly doesn't appear to be any different than the query
executed by ByPatronType.php.

Syntax error in UserFinder.php, v1.0.6 downloaded on 01/21/2010

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. LDAP login doesn't work
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
customized v1.0.6 on RedHat Enterprise 5.3

Please provide any additional information below.
I noticed in file finders/UserFinder.php , line 48 is
@ldap_set_options($conn, LDAP_OPT_PROTOCOL_VERSION, 3);
and should be
@ldap_set_option($conn, LDAP_OPT_PROTOCOL_VERSION, 3);
no "s" at end of ldap_set_option

I also could not get it to work using the variable $conn, I changed that to
$this->ldapConn . I connect do Windows Active Directory so I also modified to
use the
Domain\$username or$username@upn  formats. Maybe I didn't set something up
correctly but I
got it working.

i'm also unable to delete existing users. instead, i went through our list
and changed any that weren't being used to generic name so that i could
rename them when i needed new accounts.
