If you try to add a friend without leaving a message it returns "error" instead of noting that you need to type something in the message box.

If you try to add a friend that already is in your contact list it returns "error". There should be something like: "Friend is already added".

OpenAL threading might be the cause ("I don't clean up OpenAL correctly").

If your friend sends unsupported characters like ö ß and so on, winTox will add random extra letters when you send a message back to him. (Only this contact)

When I am calling my friend in Australia, I am in Denmark, the audio delay sometimes goes over 10 seconds and it only increases over time. Remaking the call fixes this for some time.
The connection between us is not very good, even skype often drops calls between us, but it does not have this audio delay issue.
We are using the uTox version downloaded from tox.im/binaries on 17. June.

My guess is that this is tox_core issue, but it is only a guess.

Situation:

• Bob sends friend request to Alice she accepts the request
• Now Bob deletes Alice and Alice deletes Bob
• Bob sends a new friend request to Alice

  Alice' winTox ignores further friend requests until she restarts winTox
  (if Alice would send the new request to Bob, then Bob would notice it)

AFAIU, currently a fact of nickname change is not saved at the other side of conversation.
It's just changes immediately.

How can I visually ensure I am still talking/chatting to/with the right person?
Maybe some "pinned" nicknames as an option?

When you try to add a contact winTox will crash. Accept friend requests works.

I did a video call over 2 computers in WLAN and video stream was freezing on computer 2 soon after call started, the sound was still going.
I opened the network manager on both computers and utox on computer 1 was sending ~350kB/s and receiving 70kB/s, bothe when video stream was working and when it wasnt.
On computer 2 It was sending ~70kB/s and receiving ~350kB/s
Looks like the problem is in the video player. I noticed that video on computer 2 that was received from computer 1 was much smoother than video on other computer, probably because of different webcams, that should explain the difference in bandwidth usage.

Windows 7 x64 on Intel CPU.

If you backspace all the characters when editing the status and then double click the title bar to resize, without having pressed enter, the status message in the user area will read random bytes and display them.

P.S. Tried to build using Gentoo x86/gentoo-overlay-tox

XCB is the modern library to use to communicate with the X server. It can combine multi api calls and talks the way X wants you to talk to it. However, this acts kinda like a network connection where you send the API requests then you have to receive the API requests.

This is just a thought. I may work on a port to XCB in the future when I get time to re-read the XCB documentation.

When using the send/receive file function in µTox, a open/save file dialog appears. This sets the current path of µTox to the path where the chosen file is in. As a result, the settings file "tox_save" will be saved to the directory where the sent/received file is located.

This is probably a windows-only issue.

Only one of my four video sources were detected

Situation:
You add a new groupchat and you invite Bob. Wait until it says 2 people in chat.
Close/delete the groupchat tab and add a new groupchat tab.
The new groupchat tab will show 2 people already in there and winTox will crash.

When I start utox, the console is flooded with

This message is repeated over and over again until I exit utox.

1. Clone repo

Wintox crashes if you try to mark text in a textbox like this and press delete key.

(It gets marked like this if you draw the mouse to the red line)

This happens on every input window even the chat window.

It would be nice to store group chats, so you don't have make new ones every time you restart the program.

A small sound or popup window would be nice to know when we are being called.

Please add dark option to prevent eye burn and it is good for night usage also. I am glad you made uTox because it has different GUI look and it is written in slim C code.

I am testing Linux <-> Windows connectivity.
Sending non-latin symbols from Linux (like Russian) works fine both at sending side and receiving side (Windows).

Sending non-latin symbols from Windows do not work at sending side.
So when one presses non-latin symbols in Windows, they already shown as invalid.
Looks like some problem with codepage at Windows client.

Linux version is from Git.

It looks quite disturbing if you ask me.
Webcamera turns on by itself, and it looks like it is impossible to turn it off!

I compiled wintox with "-Ofast -march=pentium-m" which leads to crash wintox in this situation:
Friend request received and when you click the "Friend requests" tab it crashes.

Some buttons lack labels or icons, not clear what they do. Tooltip would also help.

Text in chat windows should be enlarged, or there should be an option to set size of text.

I wonder, are DPI settings used by uTox?

When I try to mark text with hotkey CTRL+A then it's not immediately shown as marked. It only gets marked if I wait a while or when I hover over the text with the mouse cursor.

(Note: It's is not shown as marked but it is, so its only an optical bug. So if I copy the optical unmarked text then it gets copied)

I have installed utox build, but in cyrillic codepage I saw incorrect encoding like ȧạặậ.

When you delete all your contacts with del key and press it one more time then uTox will crash.
It also happens if you press the del key on first uTox usage.(no contacts)

uTox is constantly increasing RAM usge once I start the video in settings pane. Here is a screen https://i.imgur.com/hFhKSFY.png win7 64bit.

If you add a groupchat without inviting someone and you try to send messages in this empty groupchat, then winTox will crash.

• uTox cuts off the file name if it is too long
• If the File transfer is paused the Icon should change on both sides (the one who paused gets a play button, the other one only gets a hint)

The same applies for this: ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ since other clients support these kind of characters.

When I made a call (video or audio only) the sound played through the speakers even though the headphones were plugged in. Confirmed on both Windows 8 and Ubuntu.

• Add groupbot. Wait for it to come online (use a new toxsave)
• Delete groupbot
• Add him again
• Wait for online
• click on contact ->crash

It also seems to break something in the save file. I believe it crashes on every new friend add if you done these steps. (After a few seconds)

When sending a file it neither displays the progress bar, nor the current transmition speed, nor an estimated time.

This one is tricky to reproduce (there is no good hint what is causing this):

You add a new groupchat and you invite Bob. Wait until it says 2 people in chat.

Invite Bob again.
Now use the second groupchat a while with bob (write messages).
(It can take up to 10 minutes until it crashes)

For comparison normal instant messaging (without groupchat) works fine for hours.

When I add groupbot as friend and click on the contact then the window still shows the add friend tab instead of conversation tab.

i think i might have seen another issue about this. but when I open uTox 64bit on Windows 7 SP1 it seems to turn on webcam when it is definitely not in use. I feel extremely unsafe using it for this reason and would like to see it be resolved.

Situation:
Send a message to Bob.
Minimize winTox to the taskbar.
CPU usage will go up now and you cannot restore the window.

If you end a call and start a new call afterwards (only tested with the same friend) the audio the friend said last in the ended call is replayed at the beginning of the new call.

Messages without timestamps feel wrong.

It seems to be impossible to move audio in and output streams via pavucontrol. When you try it just does not do anything (or maybe it switches back instantly).

Dpi setting 125% would be very very good for my 1440x900 lcd then it is most easier to look, not too small and not too big. Anyway thanks for making DPI setting so anyone can find best size and it is good for eyes.
