sed
command is used to replace the text in a file. Use thesed
command to replace all occurances ofet
withET
in the fileat.txt

. You can use the following link to refer tosed
commands [https://www.linode.com/docs/guides/manipulate-text-from-the-command-line-with-sed/]
sed -i'' -e 's/et/ET/g' at.txt *
) didn't work but found this solution here: https://singhkays.com/blog/sed-error-i-expects-followed-by-text/
Check the contents of the sed.txt file using cat

who id cormacokeeffe
- Find the current path of the directory you are in.
pwd
- List all files with the extension
.txt
in lorem folder.
ls *.txt /Users/cormacokeeffe/Documents/GitHub/lab-bash/lorem
- Count the rows in
sed.txt
file from lorem folder. Look concatenatecat
andwc
with the pipe|
.
wc -l sed.txt /Users/cormacokeeffe/Documents/GitHub/lab-bash/lorem
wc -l sed.txt /Users/cormacokeeffe/Documents/GitHub/lab-bash/lorem | cat sed.txt
- Count the files which start with
lorem
in all directories.
ls -d lorem | wc -l
- Store your
name
in a variable withread
