ALX System Engineering & DevOps

This repository contains scripts and configurations used during the ALX System Engineering and DevOps track. It is designed to provide practical exercises in shell scripting, automation, and operations tasks.

Description

The ALX System Engineering & DevOps repository is part of the curriculum at ALX Africa, aimed at introducing students to the basics of system administration and DevOps practices. The projects within cover a variety of topics including shell commands, scripting, permissions, and more.

Prerequisites

Before you can run the scripts in this repository, make sure you have a Linux environment setup. You can use a virtual machine or a direct installation of a Linux OS like Ubuntu. No specific software packages are required unless specified in individual projects.

Installation

To use the scripts, you need to clone this repository to your local machine:

  • 0x03-shell_variables_expansions - Exercises on shell initialization files, variables, and expansions.
  • 0x04-loops_conditions_and_parsing - Scripts utilizing loops and conditions in Bash.
  • 0x05-processes_and_signals - Demonstrates process management and signal handling in Linux.
  • 0x06-regular_expressions - Utilizes regular expressions to perform pattern matching.
  • 0x07-networking_basics - Basics of networking concepts.

Each directory contains specific scripts relevant to the topic covered along with a README.md file that provides more details about the individual exercises.

Usage

Scripts can be executed as follows:

./script_name

Make sure you have the necessary permissions to execute these scripts. You can add execution permissions to any script with the following command:

chmod u+x script_name
