partsunlimited5's Introduction

Parts Unlimited#

Parts Unlimited is an example eCommerce website site based for training purposes on the website described in chapters 31-35 of The Phoenix Project, by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr and George Spafford, © 2013 IT Revolution Press LLC, Portland, OR. Resemblance to “Project Unicorn” in the novel is intentional; resemblance to any real company is purely coincidental.

To read more about this project, please view the Getting Started docs. The website includes product listings by category, product details, shopping cart, order history, product recommendations, search, and more. To get started learning about building and managing the site, visit the Parts Unlimited docs for hands-on labs.

partsunlimited5's Issues

Styling

Page is currently in prototype - just get it working MVP mode.

  • Brand and style the pages to match original project

Needs to build in security

Admin role is seeded, but no controllers are locked down

  • Use authorization to prevent users from changing products
  • Use authorization to prevent users from changing categories
  • Do not show protected links anywhere

Cart and shopping experience

Design and implement the shopping experience, including user cart and checkout functionality

  • user shopping experience goes across all stores/sites
  • user shopping experience is seamless so their cart and selections can be chosen from any of the online/store venues and placed in the same cart for purchase

Auto-migration at azure

I've tried several approaches but each deploy at azure has failed when attempting to run migrations in the startup, so I hacked in a solution to allow for hitting a link to run migrations.

It could be the azuredeploy.json isn't configured correctly.

Would be nice to have the ability to remove need for user to hit a link to run migrations and have automatic migrations at Azure deploy.

Product Detail page

Product detail page needs to be updated

  • Better look and feel to match original
  • Should be able to add a product to the cart [quantity?]

Store Details

Need to implement stores with products for physical brick and mortar locations

  • Seed stores
  • Seed products to stores w/inventory
  • Original plan was web/mobile would register as a store [online only]
  • Each store can have unique product counts

Analytics

User actions tracking

  • what are they clicking on
  • featured products
  • "others have bought this [cart integration]"

Better user shopping experience
